The Oxymoron of Christian Psychology
“With
an eye toward understanding the inner workings of the mind and using that
knowledge to reduce human suffering, psychologists and Buddhist monks may have
more in common than they realize, and possibly even compatible methodology.
These commonalities are driving collaborations between some psychologists and
Buddhist monks.”
A self-centered
(Godless and sinless) humanism
“Psychotherapy
is first and foremost a human endeavor…
Psychotherapy
draws on many theories, including behavioral, cognitive behavioral, family
systems, feminist, humanistic, psychodynamic, and cultural competency orientations…
There
are few differences among bona fide therapies, widely practiced over time, that
have a coherent theoretical structure and a research underpinning. (4,6)”
The
Apostle Paul ties a selfish humanism to sorcery and magic

Timothy 3: 2-8 For men shall be lovers
of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to
parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false
accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors,
heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the
power thereof: from such turn away. For of this sort are they which creep
into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers
lusts, Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses,
so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning
the faith. [Emphasis added]
Exodus
7:11 Then Pharaoh also called the wise men and the sorcerers: now the magicians
of Egypt, they also did in like manner with their enchantments.
Compare
modern psychological principles with magician Aleister Crowley’s (known as The Beast and the wickedest man alive), “do
what thou wilt shall be the whole of the law” and Satanism. [Emphasis
added]
“Other
characteristics of theistic Satanism may include a belief in magic, which is
manipulated through ritual, although that is not a defining criterion, and
theistic Satanists may focus solely on devotion. Unlike the LaVeyan Satanism
founded by Anton LaVey in the 1960s, theistic Satanism is theistic as opposed
to atheistic, believing that Satan is a real being rather than a symbol of
individualism. ..
“The
Church of Satan is an organization dedicated to the acceptance of the carnal
self, as articulated in The Satanic Bible, written in 1969 by Anton
Szandor LaVey.”
An
un-holy witchcraft
“Effective psychodynamic and
cognitive–behavioral approaches to therapy have always depended heavily on the
patient's ability to produce vivid memory and fantasy images. More
recently, developments in cognitive neuroscience have prompted intense interest
in conscious experience, of which imagery
and imagination are key components.
Authored
by Yale Professor Emeritus Jerome Singer, who has been actively researching
daydreaming and imagination for more than 50 years, this volume is a
comprehensive survey of the research evidence for our capacity to generate
images, and the processes involved. Drawing on a lifetime of experience both
practicing psychotherapy and training clinicians, Singer argues forcefully that
using imagery in psychotherapy is not an
esoteric technique for a few specialists but rather is easily integrated into a
variety of therapeutic approaches.
Clinicians
are shown how to make use of their patients' as well as their own ability to
generate images. These techniques can be used regardless of the clinician's
theoretical orientation. The author's intellectual breadth and clinical
experience are apparent in every chapter, and the reader emerges with a renewed
interest in this unique human ability.” [Emphasis
added]
“During guided imagery, patients think
about what is happening to their bodies, and how their bodies should respond in
order to be healthy.”

“The
most potentially dangerous practice used by inner healers and by some psychotherapists [Emphasis added] is that of imagery.
There is a natural imagery that occurs in all our minds. However, the type of imagery often used by many
inner healers comes right out of the occult. There are three techniques (practices) used by mental alchemists
(occultists) to manipulate reality with the mind. They are:
1. Thinking—positive mental attitude or changing
circumstances by thought.
2. Speaking—mantra or positive confession.
3. Visualizing or imaging—picturing in the mind. [Emphasis added]
The
most powerful of these three occult practices is that of imagery or
visualization. All of the senses have images. The images of touch, sound,
smell, and taste can be formed, but they are not as powerful as images created
through visualization…
They refer to it as contemporary
Shamanism. Shamanism is witchcraft! [Emphasis
added] Bressler and Rossman don’t care what wisdom figure you use. Jesus would
be just fine with them. In fact, Rossman says that the most used inner guide by
Catholics is the Holy Guardian Angel. What is the difference between a
shamanistic practice of using any imaginary figure, including Jesus, and some
Christian asking you to imagine Jesus? Or, is imagery as used by David
Yonggi Cho in his book The Fourth Dimension any different from the imagery
used by Bressler, Rossman and a host of other teachers of imagery outside the church? [Emphasis added]
Biblical
instruction and warning
And GOD saw that the wickedness of
man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the
thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. (Genesis
6:5)
Thou
shalt not suffer a witch to live. (Exodus 22:18)
Hear,
O my son, and receive my sayings; and the years of thy life shall be many. I
have taught thee in the way of wisdom; I have led thee in right paths. When
thou goest, thy steps shall not be straitened; and when thou runnest, thou
shalt not stumble. Take fast hold of instruction; let [her] not go: keep her;
for she [is] thy life. Enter not into the path of the wicked, and go not in the
way of evil [men]. Avoid it, pass not by it, turn from it, and pass away. (Proverbs
4:10-15)
In meekness instructing those that
oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the
acknowledging of the truth; And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil,
who are taken captive by him at his will. (II Timothy 2:25-26)
And the rest of the men which were
not killed by these plagues yet repented not of the works of their hands, that
they should not worship devils, and idols of gold, and silver, and brass, and
stone, and of wood: which neither can see, nor hear, nor walk: Neither
repented they of their murders, nor of their sorceries, nor of their
fornication, nor of their thefts. (Revelation 9:20-21)
A no-brainer
There
is a reason why psychology is in the church.
But
there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false
teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying
the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. And many shall follow their
pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of. And through covetousness shall they
with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time
lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not. (II Peter 2:1-3)
And,
it is a matter of unbelief.
All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for
reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God
may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works. (II Timothy
3:16-17) [Emphasis added]
Christian psychology is an oxymoron, for modern psychology is a Humanistic and increasingly-Pagan endeavor.
Beware lest any man spoil you
through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the
rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. (Colossians
2:8)
If the
foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do? (Psalm 11:3)
